Midia Ninja is group of protesting “journalists – communicators” which positions itself as an alternative to traditional and commercial media in Brazil.
Formed in 2011, under the acronym NINJA for “Independent narratives, journalism and action” the collective made itself known during the demonstrations in June 2013. Omnipresent, Midia Ninja members broadcast the numerous and popular marches live on social networks, mostly through Twitter.
Today, they count more than 5000 members, equipped with tablet computers or smartphones, committed witnesses in the heart of demonstrations, tear gases and rubber bullets, guided by one imperative: to inform, no matter what happens.
