As there exists no accurate record of evictions, it is difficult to precisely quantify the number of people who are threatened with eviction or who have suffered evictions because of the World Cup. However, ANCOP, the national platform bringing together social movements opposed to the World Cup, has made some estimates.

The VLT rail-project in Fortaleza threatens 23 communities along the railtracks, which equates to nearly 3000 homes, 5000 families, and an average of 10000 people. According to official figures, the public VLT bill will amount to 265.5 million reais.

On the entire Brazilian territory, it is estimated that nearly 250 000 people will be evicted from their homes because of projects related to the World Cup.
